Friends & Travels...

Two weekends ago, Chris and I ventured out to IE island, just off the coast of Okinawa. We took a 30-minute ferry ride to the island and then a shuttle to our resort, which was called YYYresort (again, I have no idea why).

It was a great weekend to get away, even if we were only there for about 30 hours. Our resort was really small, but it had an amazing view of both the pool outside and the ocean.

For dinner, we ate barbeque outside. You can't really see it well in the picture, but there was a little barbeque grill built into the center of our table. Then they brought out a plate of raw meats and veggies and you could grill your own meal... it was delicious!

While we were there, we spent a lot of time just lying out by the pool, but we also got the chance to go snorkeling in the ocean and rented bikes to travel around the island. This is a pic of one of the northern points that we traveled to... my legs felt like jello by the time we got there, but it was all worth it!

And then this last weekend was filled with lots of parties! First on Saturday we had a baby shower for my friend Lita. This is a picture of Lita and her daughter, Kaiya. The shower was only 4 days ago, but it's a good thing we had it then because Lita had her baby today!

This is another one of our friends, Courtney, and her new little baby, Aaron. He was born about 3 weeks ago, but he's barely 6 pounds yet! So cute though! (I'm telling you, this place is one big baby-breeding island! I have several other friends that are pregnant as well...)

Then on Saturday, Chris and I hosted a party on our rooftop! It was a birthday party for our friend Ally, and a going away party for our friend Paul. We had about 50 people or so show up, but we had plenty of food, so it was a success!! Plus, our roof offers a great location for a party, as it overlooks all of Okinawa City... Here's a pic of the party as it's just getting started.

Here's a pic of Ally and Paul, cutting the cakes I made for them...

And here's a pic of me with a few friends from our church... next to me in the back are Ally and Lea, who are some of the best friends I've made here so far.
Other than that, not too much else is new! I must admit that I was shocked to find out that Michael Jackson died, and I've been making Chris listen to his music all week long! :) Happy 4th of July weekend everyone!!

He's Finally Back!!

Well, Chris finally got back from his trip to the island of Diego Garcia. It was quite the ordeal, as it was supposed to be a 3-day trip to pick up a plane that had broken down there. It had supposedly been fixed and they were just going to fly it home. But a 3-day trip turned into a 26-day trip.
However, if you ask me, there's no big mystery about why so many planes "break down" there... Diego Garcia looks like something off of a postcard. So, I'm sure if the crews look hard enough they can always find something that needs fixed, so they can hang around a few more days and soak in the sun... here are a few pics Chris took when he was there.

If Chris ever makes you think he's making a big sacrifice by being in the Air Force, he's LYING!! While they were there they went deep-sea fishing, snorkeling, sailing, sang karaoke, laid out on the beach, played all kinds of sports, got massages, and ate all the seafood they could handle... (Can you tell I'm jealous? cause I am, just a little bit...)
By the way, we have these guys chopped up in our freezer right now, if anyone wants to come over to eat fish for dinner...
Anyways, I'm very glad to have my hubby home... back to Okinawa where it rained almost every single day he was gone. (So depressing!) Here's our cute little family photo! Koshi was so happy to have Chris home and Chris was suprised to see Koshi had doubled in size since he left! (I think Koshi might be part bat... look at those ears!)
I gave my first attempt at cooking sushi the other night... the first roll I made didn't turn out so great, but by the third try, I think I got the hang of it. It's just a California Roll, but I was pretty proud of myself!! :)
That's it for now! Hugs and Kisses for everyone!
