To make a long story short, we accidentally went too far down the street, were noticed by both of these dogs, and they ran across the street after us in a parking lot. What was different about this day than most days is 1). both dogs came after us at the same time... it's usually one or the other and 2). the dog that is normally wearing a muzzle was not. So, both dogs were trying to attack/bite us from different sides and I was seriously "freaking out" for lack of a better term. I'm trying to act tough, yelling and stomping at the dogs, so they would leave us alone. As I went to stomp towards the bigger dog, the one without the muzzle bit me on the leg (I'm assuming pretty hard from the look of my bruise, but I don't remember feeling it at the time). So, here's a pic of the bruise about an hour after it happened...
So, I turned and kicked the dog in the face, as hard as I could and he ran away whimpering.
Ok, that's not really what I did, but in hindsight, it would have made me feel a lot better. I'm actually holding Koshi this whole time because I knew they were really trying to bite her and I can't imagine letting them get to my sweet little dog. So, what actually happened was that I still held Koshi in my arms and ran away from them as fast as I could (they followed us down the street a ways) and then cried the whole way home... :( This is a picture of the bruise the day after... my leg was a little swollen, but really my calf just looks HUGE in this picture!

Wow, he did bite you really hard! Honestly, for as much trouble as the Japanese give us about having our dogs up to standard, and keeping them on leashes and picking up after them and keeping out gates closed, they sure don't follow rules themselves in this respect.
The dogs that belong to the lady next to us almost got in a fight with canyon, and I NEVER see them on a leash or behind a fence. They just roam everywhere!
Hope everything is all right with your leg now.
